The bamboo 80-prong Matcha tea whisk is a necessity for preparing Matcha tea. For hundreds of years, matcha has been prepared with bamboo whisks (chasen). They give the tea its creamy and frothy consistency.
The chasen is handmade, and the prongs are painstakingly cut from a bamboo stem and then carved into shape. The art of making these whisks is exclusive to specially trained artisans.
